Archiving Chapter Documents: Seeking Annual Reports

Chapter officers are hard at work digitizing historical ARLIS/NA Twin Cities Chapter documents! Traditionally, new officers are given a box of documents from past officers. They include documentation of our past activities, like member rosters, annual reports, and meeting minutes. Seeing the need to preserve them, Amelia and Meg have begun the digitization process of analog documents dating from 1975 to 2000. They will first be scanned on home flat-bed scanners and saved as PDFs to the chapter drive. Then they will be run through OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software, making them text-searchable. Finally, the ARLIS/NA Archives at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champagne will house the analog documents. The digitized surrogates will also be available on the ARLIS/NA Archives website.
